Join the QRET Admin Team and Lead us to New Heights!

The Queen’s Rocket Engineering Team (QRET) is a passionate group of undergraduate students dedicated to designing, building, testing, and launching rockets up to 10,000 ft for international and national competitions. Beyond launching rockets, we strive to provide every member with opportunities to learn, develop industry-transferable skills, and collaborate on an incredible cross-disciplinary project.

We are hiring four new positions to round out our admin team for the upcoming year. These roles are open to students from all faculties and cover creative and technical projects from several fields. Whether your expertise lies in manufacturing, computer science, or graphic design, your leadership can help propel QRET to greater success. Please find the open role descriptions down below.

For all of these role, no rocketry or QRET experience is required, and roles are open to all fields of study.

Outreach Lead

Lead QRET’s outreach initiatives and help us expand to new heights! Work with the logistics team to coordinate community and educational outreach opportunities, from high school projects to sponsor events and QRET appearances at conferences. This position is great for someone who is passionate about science education and has an entrepreneurial mindset. Responsibilities include organizing outreach events with schools and community groups, working with the marketing team to engage the Queen's community in team initiatives, proposing and presenting STEM content to increase interest in the team and its activities, and identifying new opportunities to participate in community and on-campus events that promote the team. No previous experience required!

Sponsorships Co-Lead

The sponsorship lead will work on increasing the finances and funding of the team while growing QRETs network, acquiring new sponsorships, and updating the team's branding. This will be a key focus area for the team in preparing for hybrid integration! Responsibilities include working with team leads and suppliers to identify potential connections, secure donations and in-kind sponsorships, contribute to team operations reports, update sponsors on team progress and milestones, research and organize applications for grants and funding available to the team, collaborate with the logistics team to ensure budgets are met, and attend team meetings and check ins. No previous experience required!

Marketing Lead (Graphics-focus)

As marketing lead, you will advertise team activities while growing QRET’s network and designing engaging promotional materials. We are looking for someone with graphics experience to help us produce team merchandise and elevate our brand image. Responsibilities will include managing the team's social media accounts and website, collaborating with team leads to record milestones throughout the year, designing social media content to increase engagement, designing and organizing merchandise for the team, and coordinating with the sponsorship team to create team branding materials. If you’re passionate about graphic design, or are looking for an exciting creative outlet, this is the perfect role for you!

Research Co-Lead

Work with the current research lead to develop a paper or poster for both national and international conferences. Review the team’s methodology, perform the projects procedures and lead the writing of status reports. The role will focus on outreach to local schools and designing and integrating the testing apparatus. Responsibilities include reviewing methodology and research, writing status reports, and running team meetings and logistics. No previous experience required!
