We are seeking experienced and reliable individuals for the role of Driver (Class 3 or 1 -primarily gravel truck, bin truck, end dump truck, and walking floor truck). Starting wage ($28 - $30/hour) is variable and is based on experience. Also includes Health Care Benefits and eligible for Company GRSP.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Deliver various materials to customers and/or construction sites while operating a gravel truck - highway and city road driving., while representing Milner Group in a positive, professional manner
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections
  • Maintain daily logs as required, perform trip inspection on equipment operated and loaded to ensure safety and road worthiness
  • Comply with applicable legislation including safe operation, carriage of goods, drivers hours, and occupational health & safety
  • Operate equipment in a manner as not to cause damage to the equipment or any surrounding structures or impediments and to do so safely to ensure the safety of themselves and others onsite
  • Loading, securing and transporting various types of materials
  • Maintain equipment and promptly report any maintenance issues
  • Comply with safe working procedures and practices
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS & ABILITIES:

  • A Valid Class 1 or Class 3 Drivers License with air endorsement (Class 1 preferred)
  • Clean drivers abstract
  • Slinger truck experience an asset
  • 2 years experience operating a Truck locally on Vancouver Island
  • Experience with truck and pup preferred
  • Ability to competently load material into truck using heavy equipment preferred
  • Ability to drive manual transmissions preferred.
  • The ability to communicate effectively with customers and dispatch in a professional and respectful manner.
  • Ability to safely secure cargo using straps, chains, manual tarps, or other appropriate methods
  • Pride of ownership in providing quality results and service
  • Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to work with a diverse group of professionals
  • Excellent time management skills to meet delivery deadlines
  • Physical stamina to handle the demands of loading and unloading cargo
  • Ability to push, pull, lift up to 23kg (50lbs)
  • Ability to climb and descend from truck
  • Ability to sit for extended periods
  • Weekend availability
