Nunee Health Board Society is recruiting Mental Wellness Crisis Response Workers (CRW’s). Under the direction of the Mental Health and Wellness Manager, CRW’s complement the Nunee Wellness Team and provide support and services regionally and provincially as needed and directed. CRW’s provide crisis support to individuals, families, and communities affected by crisis and trauma by offering mental wellness support, after-care planning, and referrals to other resources. This is a contracted on-call position that requires flexible availability and ability to travel.
NOTE: CRW’s need not live in the Fort Chipewyan community.
DUTIES
· Provide short term mobile on-site, or via technology (telephone, virtual, etc.), support.
· Utilize best practice, client centered approaches to assess needs and priorities.
· Ensure support services are culturally based.
· Other related duties as directed.
QUALIFICATIONS
· Completion of post-secondary education in social work, psychology, health sciences, human services or related field.
· Knowledge of trauma informed practice and de-escalation skills.
· Mental Health First Aid and/or related training preferred.
· An alternative combination of education, training and experience will be considered.
· Experience and knowledge of Indigenous communities including culture and language, ceremony and tradition preferred.
· Knowledge of Cree and/or Dene language is considered an asset.
· Experience working in high stress situations.
· Experience leading a team an asset.
· Proven written and verbal communication skills.
· Proven time management, and prioritization and organizational skills.
· Proven problem-solving, planning, and conflict resolution skills.
· Ability to provide after-hours and/or on call response.
· Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector including Child Intervention Checks.
· Valid Class 5 Driver’s license with acceptable abstract.
